i just use neosporin. Within days the toes will have scabbed over. Until then do i put the quail on paper towels so that none of the shavings get stuck and irritate the wound. Then once they are scabbed over i return them back to shavings and they have made many full recoveries. Good luck

If your birds begin to experience pecking problems try spreading some pine tar on it.  Once they get a taste of it they will stop.  Just dont let it get out of hand.  After they get a taste of blood theyll continue.  Pine tar works for feet, pecked heads, etc.  I like the Neosporin idea too.  If it works then go for it.  Just not too cost effective for thousands of birds.

Are they pecking their own feet or are they getting pecked at by others?

I also use a "wound dressing" i found in the horse aisle at my local farm store.  It comes in an industrial sized jar and can be used for many different species.

To stop the pecking, you need to add straw, leaves, grass or something in the pen for them to peck on. They will kill each other by pecking off each other's feet and beaks. I lost alot of my young birds this way when I first started.

seperate the injured ones and doctor them with neosporin or antibiotic cream so that they have time to heal. As long as there is blood, they will continue to be pecked.

This is just from my experiences. Hope it helps.
