Title: sexing chukar
Post by: greyghost on April 19, 2009, 01:07:58 PM
I bought Chukar eggs from a seller in N.C. who wrote me back and said;"Yes, when they mature you will notice a large knot on their leg. This will be the male. The knot will be about the same place on the leg as a spur would be on a chicken or pheasant. Hope this helps."

This sounds easy, as compared to traditional venting methods. As mine grow I will try this and be back with my results. Ghost :xing:

As the birds age you can see the scales on the legs growing .Where the knot will appear that scale will be larger.
Also the length of leg from joint to foot is longer on cock birds.
