Title: Quail space
Post by: Rob R on June 15, 2009, 11:46:06 AM
I am going to try my hand at bobwhites.  I have built an area that is completely enclosed that will keep the foxes/dogs/predators out and the quail in.  Im getting 100 day-old chicks to start.  How much space should they have?  I have a room about 4 feet by 10 feet in size.  Any help is definitely appreciated!!

 nf1    although......

Wire or dirt floor?   100 BW's in a 4x10 area will turn a dirt floored pen into one  s53 of a mess in no time flat. Fifty BW's in a 8x20 dirt floor pen is a constant job to keep even somewhat sanitary.

35 Bobwhites from day of hatch up to 5-6 weeks will produce 18 pounds of manure (5 gallon).  Of course the output becomes much greater as they grow.
