hi,
 i'm incubating 6 pheasant eggs, is it important for the big side of the egg be tilted slighty up?  Is it ok if the egg is rather flat, i'm worried that they might not hatch if the eggs are flat

Big side up in an auto-turner. If you have no auto-turner, laying on the side should be fine... I don't really think it affects hatch rate too much.
