Naw, just plain, fine sand (well mixed sizes is OK), for now.  If there's any chance of cat, or chicken poop in it, I would wash it in bleach water, and rinse it, since he's so special.  Won't have as much dust for him, but won't have e-coli, either.

Thank You!!  Horton really is special.  I had to move him to a bigger bin today.  He was jumping out of his little one s80  He's starting to settle down a little bit now.  He was pretty nervous at first.  I put some electrolytes in his water just in case.  Horton is also a really good watch dog :police:
He woke me up this morning when my niece came home and turned on her bathroom light. s020 s020 s020  He was doing his little distress call.  So, I got up, settled him down and everything was fine

I found some sand in our mailbox holder!!  Will Horton know what to do with it?  I rinsed it in bleach water first.

If he doesn't, he really is special (in the educational sense).   hat sand was probably OK the way it was.  I was just remembering the "lumps" in the last sand I bought to mix cement.

It may be me that is "special"  0009  Do I put the sand in like a bowl or just on the bottom of his cage?

A cigar box, or small crock, that is hard to turn over.  A soup bowl would flip, too easily.

........or a frisbee.  We give those things away at work and you just can't imagine the uses for them when raising birds. Feeder lids, dust/sand baths, sod holders, etc., etc.

I had a teeny tiny pie plate that I put in his house.  He is now living in a guinea pig cage that is 24" long by 12" wide.  He seems to be doing pretty good.
