Title: egg color change

I have a question but let me give the scene first.
I had a male and female coturnix in a cage by themselves. I decided to change my ratio to 3 females to 1 male and chose to do that by butchering two of my males. The morning I was going to butcher, something had happened to this one female. She was bleeding with a wound to her foot and limping badly. I chose to go ahead and butcher the guy and leave her alone in the cage to heal up. Next morning her ege was cream color - not splotches on it at all. This morning she did not lay and egg.

Why would her egg have changed color and will she have to heal up before she lays again?

It is probably because she is under alot of stress from the wound..but there are times when they will lay a clear shell egg. Every once in awhile I get a clear shell egg from my Valleys and I used to throw them away because I did not think that they would hatch...but guess what...they do...

with the proper amount of light and feed she should lay with out a male.
