Help..went out this morning to find 5 dead coturnix in my quail pen...12 ok and 3 just gone..lots of blood and feathers in the pen.   I found two holes into the pen..dug down under the buried wire fencing about 10 inches..holes are about 3 or 4 inches in diameter.  Also found some blood in the snow headed off into the woods.  I live in southern New England and have had rats get into the quail once before and kill several of them..but this looked different..maybe a weasel?...I thought a weasel would just kill them all for the fun of it, no?
Anyway, I moved the remaining quail into a large cage in my garage until I can reinforce the bottom of the outdoor pen.
What kind of critter would do this?
Any suggestions appreciated.

Get out there & set a snare over the hole, now ! You'll see what it was, if you set it properly.
Don't kill it, it will be back....

You need a ....."Game Cam".    Not even sasquatch can hide from it.

Had one about a week ago for several days....but it moved on right after I picked up 6 rat traps from the local trappers association.
At least I'll be ready for it if it comes back.
BTW, it was likely an Ermine, regardless a nasty ole weasel !
