Week end involved ! Nothing open.Had to order new U-bolts (not supposed to use old ones due to torque to yield)Then due to having to change out the backing plates, I had to pull the axles & hubs. So new hub seals. One of the junk yard hubs had bad bearings, so used a good one from my diff.Got it all together & took it for a 4km drive. Crawled under the truck & put my hand on all parts......pinion was warm. Not sure if that is a problem......yet.PS: new heater going into the shop tomorrow ! No more working in the shop at -40c ! Am I to understand that the "U" bolts that you are talking about is to hold the rear axles to the frame, correct? If the complete rear including the both axles was swapped out, there could be a possibility that the whole unit could be set forward towards the front of the truck. This could be the cause of excess heat. The same goes for rear side tracking when the whole rear isn't lined up. Ever see a truck or car going down the road crooked? This is due to the misalignment of the complete rear, where the Axel are connected to the body frame with those huge "U" bolts.Steve

Changed the transfer case oil. Looked clean & no metal stuff at all.I have AMA , so when it dies on the road I'll make a call ...... and likely buy a new work truck. Wish we had USA pricing up here !
