Origin of Differrent Coturnix Breeds

What can you all tell me about why these different breeds of coturnix were bred? I understand the Texas A&M and to some degree the Jumbo XLD1, but what about the others:
* Texas A&M coturnix
* Pharaoh Jumbo XLD1 coturnix
* Golden Manchurian coturnix
* English White coturnix
* Australian Fawn [speckled] cotrunix
* British Range coturnix

In all honesty, I've never looked into it, or thought to question it.
But very likely it is breeders looking to "enhance" the breed/species ?
Maybe ask at GBWF ?

For the same reason there are so many breeds of dogs, cats, chickens, pigeons, etc...
Someone either wanted a specific trait, whether it be bigger/smaller bodied, color, fast growing, temperment, etc.
Mostly though...probably because they just plain could - Isn't science grand!

the A&M was made cause they wanted an all white meat bird idk bout the rest and personally never cared bout it or thought to question it

well we now have a pretty bird from crossing the A&M with the XLD1 and then the British Range and English White. Then we took both the A&M and the English White and crossed them with the Aussie Fawn. All of the offspring have now crossed and we have our 1st four young that are very nice to look at...kina like a white-tailed ptarmigan in color....

breed for fun and partially, but also to make peace. some of these are fighters. i will get pictures soon, the ones i took were blurry.

Sometimes, that's enough reason.
If those "fighters" were kept isolated, they might also become flighty. Might be usable for dog training.

well Slider, other than the fact I am a biologist and love playing God, the combos used were one of the only ways we could get fertile eggs. The females were all trying to kill the males of the same breed. These mixes lived in peace.

live weight of the first 24 birds has all gone up to 16 oz with one female well over it.
