This is the pen that i have been working on, this was 2 days ago, yesturday i did alot of work on it. As you can see i have divided it into 4 sections, with 2 feet of chicken wire (wire mesh) enclosing it, and 1 foot of an enclosed area with plywood for shelter for each section divided. 1 section = 10 quail 3 square  feet per 10 quail. Right?

I posted this because it was the only way i could send the picture, i can not send a picture using PM.

Chris,
Is the pen you plan on brooding your chicks in?

nice work chris, you might want to add some bracing for the legs. Oh yeah don't for get to add the walls separating the different pens befor you cover the whole thing.

Mike,

Thanks for the advice, i will be adding braces, everyone who has seen it said that was a good idea. There is 12 square feet of space in there, what is the max amount of birds i can fit?

Looking good!  Also want to be sure you can reach every inch inside from the door so you can collect the eggs.

Keep going!  John

BTW Chris, is that young lady with you in the picture the one who thinks we are all a little weird?  Has she changed her mind yet?  Maybe when she sees how cute the chicks are!!!!  My wife has always maintained she didn't ever want birds, but now she's checking on them during the day, giving them water and feed, collecting eggs and even catching the occasional escapee.  For her birthday, I nominated her for farmer's wife of the year!

Yea i really do think when she sees the little chicks she will change her mind, her and my brother. I have to say though, i dont want to sound sterotypical, (correct me if i am wrong) most members that are active on this forum are males.
