Post by: Reeves on December 21, 2008, 08:26:00 PM
Had the news on and (finally) seen what is happening out east !
May be why Steve and Chuck have not been seen ?
Power out, snow, ice etc.

And I thought it bad here with -40c (same in f) cold !

Keep yer stick on the ice, lads !

Bet you're right.  Not sure how Steve is set, but Charlie probably has plenty of wood in, with the kids and wife to cut, split and carry.

Always pretending to be the whip cracker, but I bet he's the one ran ragged.

Steve said that he needed to cut 4 more cords, but did not make it. He usually lays low on weekends anyway. We will see in the morning...

We had no power for six days in southern Nh. Over the weekend we got two feet of snow. Slowed down the work crews even more. Some houses in town are still waiting on power. The Power company was telling them by the first of the year they should have it back.

I just tried calling Steve but no answer. I did get his answering machine and left a message.

Any idea if that indicates he has power?  Or just phone company answering service?

I hope Steve and Charlie are ok, if not hopefully they'll get some help.

I'm still around, just been busy splittin' wood, tending to the animals and such. Had to get BW's, dogs, cat, and chickens all set for the 3*F that showed up last night.  I could set and watch the digits fall on thermometer yesterday as the day went on. High winds took alot of peoples power out, but mine survived it all. Not a speck of snow on the ground here (what we did have melted the other day at 60*F), it all went north of me, NH/Pete got what I was suppose to get, I told them to send it on, that I didn't want it.  ^-^  It got up to 19 here today, but suppose to be back up to 50 in a day or two!

Meant to get some pictures of the fresh cover that I gave the BW's, but it got dark on me before I could get any pictures. I'll see if I can get some tomorrow to post on here.  My neighbor (1 mile away) sells Christmas trees and I got some scraps yesterday for the BW pen.  I'll get any left over trees too.

I think Pheasant Hollow had to go pick up my Christmas gift. I hope it's better than last years, at least a different color.

Better you than me, although I understand completely.  I'd probably just get up on top of the chimney and jump off in to the driveway..........head first.   ^-^

.............after the first 2 days to boot, couldn't do six.

I'm still here, no snow but heavy winds blew in and lost power 3x in the same day. Now we are into operation deep freeze. Yesterday 5* in the morning to 12* for a high. Wind chill dropping it down in the - temps.

Just now caught that.    j1    ^-^

I'm running out of wood fast, and I seem to be the only one around here that has an aching back.

Hide an electric blanket out in a work shop, somewhere, and let the fire burn out.  That'll solve your problems.  One way, or another.
