Reeves,

Wow! Nice pictures of the snares and your catches!!  s98 s98

I'm out sick with double pneumonia and come back to find out that our Born-Again birdlover is actually an anti-hunter. Did anyone copy his posts? I would like to read them if possible. If you do have them, send them to me via PM.

Reeves, again thanks for sharing those pictures.

Thanks !

I pulled the snares on Sunday. It is a small bush and I do not want to harm the population. I also want to snare there next year !
Going to load up the ice fishing gear now

Reeves,

Actually, I just read where he was doing the  apologizing act once again. That topic also vanished.

No Cotton Tails here. However, I hear they may be farther south. Too far for me.
Only ones up here are the Snow Shoe Hare.

Haven't done any snaring this year.....yet !

Been waiting for better (warmer) weather so I can get out fishing through the hard water !

I know where some good areas are for snares. But daily checking would get costly. (too far)

Forgot about Coyotes !
Season is in full swing.
When the snow stops I'll be helping the old fella (did I mention him ?) that snares them each winter. He is about 73 now ? Had a stroke last summer and still going strong !
He came by in the fall .....he had trapped a big Beaver and couldn't carry it to the road. I drove him back and loaded it up. Then we drove around checking his other traps.
Neat old fella !

We use snares for Yotes, they are set at gap in the Field Fencing where they crawl under and work Great!

Reeves,  if ya do anymore this season please post some pics.  Really interesting actually seeing them in action.  I have often wondered if they actually work efficiently thanks for regaining my confidence in them!

Reeves, I seen some times in my life, that the rabbit was the meat of the day. I love rabbit, especially with fried potatoes and gravy and bisicuts. I use a loaded snare as you do, only mine are built for otters. rabbits, are a natural, renewable resource, Hawks, owls foxes, coyotes cats, etc., agree.  They help me eat my garden and I thank them by culling them down, and I eat them. Along with coons, beaver, and squirrels. Wish we had some snow you have made me hungry for some rascally wabbits.  thanks for the pictures.  yote1

Mine are not "loaded". I just set tied off to a tree and when the Hare feels it tighten they bolt. This tightens the wire and it ends quickly after that.

Didn't set any this winter. No real close places, so when fuel costs are measured, it doesn't pay.

Having said that, if I end up going to a lake or two to the north of me, I'll make it a two or three day ice fishing event.
While going to and from, I'll set snares and "kill two with one stone" (set snares first time going, check each night on the way back).
