Rooster to Hen ratio?

I moved 20 or so Jumbo Coturnix quail from a grow out pen to an outside pen for the winter. I noticed the birds were 2 to1 male. The birds are the third generation brood from my original stock. Is there a reason for the aggresive male gene?
They are all fed the same. The egg production as well as incubation is not an issue
All birds are as large as the original breeders.
My breeders consist of two different roosters, one with four hens, and one with one hen. He was a killer, he beat the hell out of two hens, he is left with the one hen that could slow him down.
There is a possibilty of a few birds having the same daddy and mom, but it is very slim.
Any idea's?
