Here's an home made quail laying cage I've built out of mesh panels I had kicking about the yard.
Its 30" Long by 15" Width & By 1 Foot High. It will probably suit a good 6-8 birds depending on there size I would think.

Its a nice cage and a job well done but the slop looks a little to steep..
