Title: Gray areas on bobwhite backs

I've got 10-12 Wisconson Bobs that looks like they have a patch of gray feathers on their backs. Doesn't look like they're being pecked. Any ideas what this could be? Also I've got several that their feathers are looking like quills...are they shedding their down feathers? The Bobs are about 4 1/2 weeks old. Thanks for any help.
