We've got 3 hens and a cock - however 2 hens and the cock are ganging up on the 3rd hen. We've separated them so now we have a trio and a lone hen. What is the best thing to do? Get another cock bird for her? Get another hen & cock and put them together? Ideally we'd like to breed from her. All 4 birds are 6 weeks old and were hatched in our incubator.

Would it work if we put her with some of the other CPQ's we hatched 2 weeks ago - just worried about the size difference.

Also - we have japanese quail (3 weeks Old) would they fight with the lone hen or would like live together? Just worried as they seem to have formed a trio already

Tis all terribly confusing

The easiest thing is to just leave her out of the picture and let the others get on with their business. You might give her a try with the Japs but keep an eye on them. Put her in with them at night or put her in a small cage next to theirs for a few days first.

Chinese Blue Breasted "button" quail are monogamous and need to be housed in pairs.
