Gas prices

Yesterday it was $3.49.9 gal and this morning it went to $3.59.9 and diesel has hit a high of $4.59.9 gal here in my area.

I can see my feed bill going up this month just for the transportation costs alone.

What's the price of gas and diesel in your area?

It's a  buisness. But we would really like to pay 3.59 per gallons, here in Quebec it's $4,91 per gallon and the price are still rising up...

It's like a mafia!

At least for the moment I don't have a car but my parents do... I was heading to buy a new one, I'll go with a little one finally...

I remember when they use to raise gas prices by a penny at a time. Then they went by the nickle, now they dime ya to death every other day.

The Feds want to increase gas taxes, the States want to increase gas taxes all for the sake of road improvements. Who the  is going to be on the roads when ya can afford the gas to drive, let alone get hassled by the county grass cops telling ya that your lawn needs to be cut.

Remember the gas wars? Now we have price fixing. We have all the gas stations here in a 10 mile radius with the gas prices fixed at $3.59.9 gal Usually on Wednesday they all drop the price by $.05 per gallon.

Well yesterday, the price was $3.49.9 and never lowered the price. I told my wife  to check when she went to work this morning and give me a call. Sure as  , they raised it.

When they do lower it by $.05 they will normally raise $.05 above the starting point the following day. This time they just did the dime act.

My buddy just bought a CNG (natural gas) powered car - a Ford . Out here in Utah CNG is regulated and costs only .73 per gallon. Seems to be an even better idea than buying a hybrid car/suv. I am going to look into this.

Glad I sold my GMC Duramax last Summer. Filling up my Honda Accord is much more easy on the wallet.

In Utah today Unleaded is $3.19 and Diesel is $4.09.

The  didn't even wait 24hrs, the price is now in a 10 mile radius $3.65.9

What a joke. I say screw this global warming an the U.N., and screw the refined gas.

It won't end until "Corporate America" has gotten all the money necessary to survive. While we common people suffer under the corporate greed, the CEO's get filthy rich. Who in America deserves the multi million dollar salaries? How much money is enough? Why has Exxon/Mobil had x number of consecutive record sales and record profits? They have got us where they want us.......under their thumbs.

BTW......... gas was 3.49 and diesel was 4.09 in east TN.

Something is going to have to give.  I drive a vw jetta and it STILL is killing me.  I am a contract computer nerd, i have to drive for a living.  I am going to have to raise my price per hour just to cover the gas.  I would hate to think what the truck drivers are going though.

I dont know how much longer i can make it doing what i do.  I would make less having a 8-5 job, but would not have to spend as much on gas.

It just really stinks....

For what it's worth, I have been in the gasoline business in Texas and Louisana for over 30 years. I am a fair sized distributor for several major brands and have a chain of convenience stores. Sell about 11 million gallons a month. All this is sort of like admitting I have leprosy these days. Frankly, it is a crappy business. I am in several other businesses (metal recycling, shopping center development) and all are better than the gas business. I haven't built a new store in years and don't plan to build anymore. Just a poor investment return.

Someone on this thread indicated there is price fixing. Over the years I have been to hundreds of oil seminars. Those guys can't agree on what kind of sandwiches to have for lunch much less get together to fix prices. Remember, it would take everybody, if just one does not, he gets all the business. For about 20 years, I pooled about 10 cents a gallon retail. During the year, I may pool 20 cents for a while, then 5 cents for a while but wound up around 10. Last year I actually pooled 15 cents and my net was less because of credit card fees. So far this year, I am around 16.7 cents pool. But if you come in and fill up on your American Express the credit card fee is around 15 cents a gallon. Try operating on that margin!  A lot more to it than this, you couldn't explain all there is to raising pheasants in one post. Still, not a great business to be in.

Steve; Are you telling us that in WV that the county cops etc can tell you when you have to cut your grass. that sounds more like socialism to me.
About the gas problem, I agree with everyone on this site.  We the small people are just that.  The (corps) could care less as they just want to make more money at are expense and I don't see it slowing down any to soon.  JB
