Hi there,
I am going build some johnny houses and I was hoping for some ideas.I am hoping some of ya'll might be willing to share some of your plans and include some pics. I am thinking of making them 4' by 4' and I'm thinking they can hold 15 to 20 birds each. Will that to many birds for that size J house? Also I am on 130 acres with good cover so I would like to know how many houses I will need.I would like to be able to train when ever I want without over working the J houses.I'm thinking 4 so that i can rotate every 4th day.

Four houses, and 60-80 birds for 130 acres.  That doesn't sound like any too many of either(is there such a thing?),  If the whole property is "huntable".
I have a couple of different styles, out back.  I'll try to get pictures, tomorrow.  I prefer barn metal, rather than the common plywood type.
Rotating is a good idea, consider using half the population of a house at a time.  Or just take two, or three out of each house to plant, or use in launchers, near their house.
I would suggest placing them in, at least 250 yards from the property boundaries, and from each other.  If you have permission to use adjacent property, you can vary this.

Thanks wildgamebirds for your input.I picked up 120 day old birds 4 weeks ago and so far i have lost 4. I have 2 J houses made and I think I'm going to make one more . I do have neighbors that want me to put a hs or 2 on there places but i was thinking of just putting the houses on the fence line and seeing what happens. That would give me more land to work the dog on.
Thanks again
