Hi folks last Monday we had some mearns quail shipped from WI to us in MI not a big deal they did not arrive on Tuesday we checked tracking the only info was they had been checked in in WI which is norm for USPS so we watched out for them Wednesday morning still no sign checked tracking again still nothing updated on them so we started calling and finally they put out an alert on the birds finally got a call on Thursday morning 6 am they called to come pick up at the local post office birds were all fine they had eaten the apples put in the shipping box just goes to show we really do need a water source and foods source in the shipping box in case of times like these Jim www.emeraldisleaviary.com

Hi Jim
glad it worked out alright. Are these adults or chicks? I am guessing adults.
Are you going to be selling eggs this year?
-
Hi Jake adults but we are not selling any eggs or young this year we are trying to build up the stock to about 100 pairs Jim
-
Good luck on them,
they alone makes it about worth the drive down to see them.
you are buidling quite a flock down there.
-
we plan on doing the same with the benson as well our is to have one of the most extensive quail collections in the country we are both doing the NPIP class in march so we cando the tests Jim

Good luck, that'll help in the long and short run. If I had more space I'd do more Quail but also want only the ones that can do well in outdoor pens in this climate. There are certainly a number of species I'd like if I was in a warmer clime, but otoh, have the Grouse family can work with here.

If either one of you guys at some point this year could spare a dozen or so of the mearns eggs, I'd be more than grateful. Or, if you know where I could get a couple pairs would help too.
Thank you!

Glad everything turned out well. I agree that a food and water source during shipment is desirable.
