I recently lost a mountain quail (5 months old) that I raise on the ground. He had droopy wings and hunched over with puffy feathers for 4 or 5 days before he died. Currently I don't vaccinate or worm my quail. I was thinking about worming them once a month using Tramisol and is wondering what the thought would be on giving them quail Bacitracin periodically for disease prevention? Or is it much better to let the birds build up their own immunities and only treat birds when they come down with something.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

No need to worm each month. Normal routine would be to worm before breeding season, then a second hit 10 days later (to kill any that hatch).

Same again in the fall, before winter.

Cannot get Tramisol in Canada any more (banned). I had thought it was discontinued in the States as well ?

I've had problems finding one type of wormer to get all types of worms.

One way to be sure you treat for the right type of worm, is to take fecal samples in for testing.
