I was wondering, I have a 24 foot long 12 foot wide, and 6 foot high flight pen with a built in pond, would that be enough space for 10 ducks? The species are 2 mucovies (one male one female) 1 female mallard, 2 female rouens, 1 pekin, 4 fawn and white indian runners. It would have grass various kinds of plants and a 4 foot long 6 foot wide obove ground pond. The reason I ask this is because I had them in a smaller pen that was about 14 foot long and 9 foot wide pen but they turned everything into MUD! But I think it was because they had a little kiddie pool and I dumped it everyday wich got everthing all wet. So I hope you guys reply. Thanks

Depends on what you're after .. Why do you want to mix species under the same roof? not a good idea in my eyes but

Some production duck farms use 3 to 6 square feet per mature bird while others use a minimum of 34 square feet per mature bird. 3 square foot is used for fattening birds to eat. If it were me, I'd subtract the pond size, assuming it's is on the inside of your pen, to be a little more accurate.

Make it as i5 as you can afford $$$$$ wise. You can never make pen to big, unless you run out of property space.

Let the Muscovies free range, they'll be happier, more productive and find most of their own feed.

That pen is way too small to keep any grass. Better to have a gravel base for them. A lot of roosts and nest boxes would help.

That pond size would be barely big enough for two ducks let alone 10.

I'd suggest finding homes for about  8 of these and let one pair have the new pen .

If I were you, I'd enclose about 3 acres with fence and netting with a half acre pond (minimum) within it.

Seriously though, if you've already had them for 3 years you know enough at this point to know what it will take without even asking.  My response will provide you with the ultimate solution to solve your problem.  Will you do it? - I'd bet the farm no, especially since you know you've had the problem for 3 years now and haven't done anything so far.  It kinda makes it useless to provide the answer, really.

P.s. I have my ducks on wire bottom pens with water pans for them to get into for this exact reason and have none of these problems.
