Make sure and build it as to not supply the area hawks and owls with a place to perch on the outside and pick off your birds.  I built mine with galvanized metal pipe curved into a half-circle and covered in chicken wire.   It had a tin covered bottom to keep birds quiet and keep varmits out.  I also ran an electric fence around the bottom, six inches off the ground to deter varmits.
I had a lot of luck building a flight pen on the ground and using natural plants inside.  Planting lots of grasses and clover and food like milo and sunflowers.
