Kick 'Em Up - Knock 'Em Down

May be a dumb question but....

Few years back I purchased 3 1502's that have the electronic thermostat with wafer backup.  They have worked great but I believe and some point they will not work great.  We dry ran the incubators last night to make sure everything worked and it did.  However, it got me thinking, how would I know if the incubator is running off of the elec thermostat or wafer?  How do you know when the elec thermo has gone out?  I have a spare on hand in case something happens during incubation but I believe the wafer will kick in and maintain temps where I need them.  We do place a wireless humidity and temp gauge inside each inc and keep track of all highs and lows for each day of incubation.  Temps tend to vary a degree or so and seem to maintain well.  Will the wafer thermo keep the temp fluctuations that small or will I notice that my elec thermo went out if I see temp fluctuations larger than that?

You will know by the tempature of the incubator. The back up thermostate is set up at a couple degrees lower than the main one and yes the waffer is good enough to carry the load...

Just make sure when you set the incubator that you are setting it using the electronic thermostat and not the wafer.  It is possible to keep turning the wafer up so high that it exceeds the electronic one then you are defeating the purpose.  Like Slider said it is designed to stay a degree or two below what the electronic one is in case of a failure it can be used to maintain the settings.
