Title: Newbie in Louisiana
Post by: daniel77 on December 19, 2009, 03:35:35 AM
Hello ya'll from Cajun country. I am quite interested in raising my own game birds, and so, am here for information. The bird dog side of things also interests me quite a lot. I own a lawn & landscaping company, and train cutting horses on the side. Looking forward to learning a lot, and getting proficient.

Now in the Lafayette area, but went to college at La Tech, and know the Charles Thomas family from Haughton quite well. I went to school with Michael at Tech, and have ridden a few colts for them.

Quail to start. I was leaning toward courtunix, but have seen several posts about them being too easy for a young dog to catch. It seems that BWs are more popular for training. I've found an easy pigeon source also. Have ya'll got any wild coveys up that way?

Hey Daniel77,  s016 ! Bob's are natural flyers, because they are nuts. Coturnix, if left alone to become wild will give a Bob a run for their money, but they need a flight pen. I raise both and enjoy them. There is allot to learn here, have fun. Ghost.
