Hey all-

I have a female bob that I saw the other day calling 'bob-white', same as the males do.  Just wondering if anyone else has ever seen this before... :?:

I have.  My oldest Bobwhite hen calls all the time.  I suspected that she was actually a him with the wrong markings, but she is still laying.... :o This was a puzzle to me, but I was reluctant to mention it.....

I have one hen that will call "bobwhite" when isolated from the others. But she is not nearly as loud as the males.

I guess there's one in every bunch, so it seems...  This one was definitely not as loud as my males, but just threw me for a bit.  I wonder if there is any scientific reason why they might do that :?: ...whether it is just a fluke, or if it has some purpose to the covey, or even fall shuffle, as I have only heard her the last week or so.

In my experience the hens have their own call that sounds very similar to the bobwhite. Its their own breeding call i guess.
