I was recently presented with the opportunity of raising some Mountain Quail and had a few general questions about them that I haven't been able to find answers to on the web yet so I was hoping that someone here who may raise them or know about them might help me out.

First, on average, what's their lifespan in captivity?

Second, again on average, at what age do they begin laying and about how often do they lay?

Lastly, are they okay with being in outdoor pens/enclosures during the winter months, exposed to freezing temperatures and snow, or would they need a heat source or to be kept inside?

Thanks for any help!

They will live 7 to 8, 9 yrs.
If fed properly they lay everyday during their laying season if you take the eggs from them
They do better up off the ground with a solid botton enclosure they can get in during extreme weather conditions.
They are nice quail good luck with them.
