This place is going to the birds!

I am new to raising quail, I have about 30 jumbo brown coturnix right now in what I would consider breeding pens.  If I am raising the birds for meat and eggs for my family (nothing commercial in nature), do I need a flight pen?

I am sure it would be better for the birds, but not sure it is required.  Plus is would make egg collection harder and the breeding pens have allowed me to segregated the birds by age as I hatch them at different intervals.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Can you tell me pro/cons of having a flight cage so I know when I do need to consider building one?

flight pens are for FLIGHT training, the only reason you would need a flight pen is if you want to condition them for hunting, if you are using them strictly for breeding keep them in their breeder pens and if you want in the off season some people will put them in a larger winter pen

Thanks, that makes total sense.  I hadn't thought about the hunting aspect since I am raising them so I DON'T have to hunt them.    ty2
