Okay after some discussion from posts and PMs o nthis forum and on gbwf, it has come to my attention that the Japanese green pheasant might be a better species for consideration than the Af. white-winged, but once again I am faced with where to procure eggs?

As far as I know (and I'm pretty sure to be right), Melanistic mutant is nothing else than a Ringneck Pheasant (Phasianus colchius) mutation (maybe that far behind in their genetic tree you'll find Green Pheasant blood but I don't know).

Green pheasant is a different species : Phasianus versicolor
