Been thinking of a rim fire for the wife. The BLR .22 I have has never shot well. Plus the distance factor.
Anyway, I've been reading about the new(er) .17 cal HMR. Anyone here have one ?

http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?cat_id=025&type_id=181&value=021B&cattype=025181

I've always been a Browning fan

Wind would be an issue. I was in the local gun shop and had a look at the ammo. Little tiny chunk of lead !

Reeve's,
I THINK that all the caliber under .22 are now illegal in Canada, all that because of the freaking gun laws...

I prefer the 22 magnum over the .17..Ive shot several coyotes at 100 yards with both, The magnum has more knockdown, The .17 is a tad more accurate at that distance(hardley no drop at 100 yrds).. But I do like the punch of the magnum

I had a Marlin 17HMR that was great (had) It was dead on at 200 yrd. would give Beavers & Muskrats a Flip Top Head reel amazing round loved it. But if you are going to work on coyotes and foxes the 22-250 or the 6mm and 243 are the ones for coyotes the 22mag will wound them if they aren't at close range less than 80 yrds. Believe me i have hunted these Pests for years, a head shot is the one if you want to find it close with anything that is a rim fire shell.
Some one needed 25 of my guns a motorcycle & utility trailer More than me, that was 1 year ago this past Oct 2nd & still the Sheriff Dept has No I Deer Hu Dunit (Barney & Otis) are in Hot Pursuit ???? I do get a call every 2 months have you heard anything (no they will call you and ask for help if I hear Hodunit)  I hate a Thief and a Cheat. Have learned to deal with a LIAR ( and just say some one else Voted for the SOB)  Charles Davenport

That's a good story!!   I've got a brother who also buys ATV's for his wife.......and I've never even seen her set on one.

As long as that story works, Reeves, more power to ya!

Don't think so. Lots on the shelves and lots selling as of this week.

The other one I think she needs, for the longer distance stuff, is this 22-250:  http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?value=001B&cat_id=035&type_id=024

Got all the other ones covered

Chuck, keep quiet ! Never know if she will ever read this !

Reeves, If you get a chance to get a good rifle for your wife, by all means

         MAKE THE TRADE!

I'll help with the shipping charges for her replacement from Scottland, (if I get to shoot the rifle, some)..
