Over the many years I've had a number of species of Pheasants and quail.
Thought I'd post some pictures of some of these birds.

Although I've had several male Reeves Pheasants, the one I have now is Lionheart.

I also had Ghigi Golden, when I moved to where I am now.

Hen below

I also had Silver Pheasants a couple times. I do not at this time have them. The pictures are of Roman's birds.

Two new species I'll be getting this year.
Swinhoe's

This is the other new species I'll be getting. I'm on a list with a fellow in Manatoba for 09 birds (this fall).
Picture is of another Roman bird.

Eastern Tom I used to have

My Valley hen that hatches her own each year

Her mate doing sentinel duty, has 8 chicks out in the run

My present Golden male. First one in the family was before 1960.
Older Bro pretending to "hunt" it

I've had Amherst several times over the years. The ones below are the ones I have right now. But I'm getting out of them this spring. I have offered them to a couple people for free. So far no takers ?
I need the pen for the new species.

Black Shoulder male I had back in the early 90s

I'll be getting Black Shoulder Peafowl again one day.
Battle may happen though. Wife wants....

I've also had Bobwhite, Ring-Necked, Brown Eared, Blue Eared, Indian Peafowl.
I also had some kind of small Quail back in the 70s. They may have been those girl type Jap ones ?
Also Chukar. Lots of different breeds of chickens.
Likely several more I've forgotten !

Opps !
Forgot all the different Pigeon breeds !
Lots !

These were funny buggers ! I had them in the Reeves pen for a while. Lionheart (or one of the males) would come charging out of his house and stomp on them !
Stupid birds couldn't see him coming with their tails up like that !

Quite the menagerie!!! Wish I had the room and a husband willing to allow me to keep some bigger birds!! The peafowl are georgous.... Was the dove eating your dinner?! Isn't that a little backwards???!!! Shouldn't he have been the one getting eaten?! LOL!

Yeah Great job Reeves!!    Those are amazing birds that you had and have.  I'm sure this will give me the inspiration to one day keep all of those nice birds.

He's just a "Jake" !

Doves were funny...loved their "laugh". May one day get them again, just to hear that on summer days.

Amherst are OK. But I want new species, so I have chosen them to go. For now.
I have contacts for the best of the bset, so may one day get back into them.
I have offered the one I have now to labmancan. If he doesn't take them, I have offered them to another young fellow. Free of charge (to both).

I like doves also, have had some real characters,

My old Bobwhites greet me every morning when I go out into the garage and turn the lights on, they raised one chick last year, who is now starting to lay,  even in our cold snaps.

I'd like to get one of the heritage breeds of Turkeys but sure it'd draw flocks of the wild ones that would strip the garden.

We'll see. Great aviaries you have Reeves, really nice.

That would keep the cost per lb down

I have Deer in the garden all the time.
Wife says string Beans are not meant to eat......because even the Deer will not touch them ! (she hates them too )

I have a new aviary design in my head. Came up with the idea about a week or so ago.
Short cash this year, so will not get it done. However, I'll be planting the area different this summer with this new aviary in mind.
I may have enough 4" steel pipe to get the center ridge poles up ?
I know it's going to be 52' wide. I'll wait for the snow to go before I decide on the length.
Sides will be minimum 6' (thinking of ways to raise it another 4') center will be 15' high.
Hard to put into words without seeing the area. Pictures this summer.
