Title: Incubator unplugged

I have had Bobwhite eggs in the incubator for about 5 days and the incubator accidentally got unplugged.  It was about 6 hours before I found that this had happened.  I plugged it back in and are still turning them.  Do you think they will still hatch?

I think they will still hatch. Inside the incubator would have still stayed warm. I have also learned through my experience that it is best to keep temperature constant, but...it is no cause for panic when temperatures fall or rise 5 degrees or so. Just need to make the necessary adjustments as you discover them. Hope for the best.

i'm sure you will have some hatch but.........not as good if that would not of happend.

Six hours is nothing to worry about.  I've suffered through a 14hr power outage (before I obtained a generator) and still wound up with a 62% hatch rate.  You should be fine, enjoy.

I am going to candle them today.  I think at least some of them wil hatch.

I agree with everyone's post.  I too had power outages before purchasing a generator system.  Sometimes longer than 24 hours.  As long as you dont open the incubator too much you shouldnt have much of a loss.  Keep in mind the hen does not sit on the eggs 24/7 in the wild.
