Been meaning to build one for many years. Finally got all the stuff together & got it done.
First set of pictures shows the short insert, tail gate up only. Winch is 1500 lb. All steel is heavy wall 2" and the pipe used for the swivel is 3" OD heavy wall pipe.
Had it all powder coated. Since I was doing that, I took the head ache rack off the truck and had it done as well. Missing off the truck is the bed liner, fuel tank, the two spares I carry in the back including the tire mount I also made & had powder coated.
I'm going to build an insert and mount it in the back end of the truck box as well. This way I can gain height if needed.
Mounted the winch high to provide longer cable if needed.

Next insert is for tail gate up or down, straight out.

This one is off set past the tail gate. Sometimes room is needed to swing a load into the back of the truck.
Note the 1" brace to the ground on the outside. Also, you may be able to see the locking bolt in the 3" pipe. Never know when the up-right needs to be locked in place.

Forgot to take pictures of the last offset one inserted into the drivers side of the hitch. Works for when distance is needed towards the back.

My guess is that she looks like that every day and I'd think you should be so used to that by now, that you wouldn't even notice.

Good idea! It's always fun taking my 125lb Golden Retreiver to the vet. :-o (She has thyroid problems) Last time I used ramps to get her in the back of the SUV.

I actually explained how a new "lawn tractor" is going to be built from left over drive line from my Pinto project. Going to be a fun project !
Then she can get the lawn done in a fraction of the time it now takes s020
