-
CHICKEN wouldn't have them around my quail t15 ty2 Jim
-
nice what did you use on the floor and sides might try a build one of those
is it going to be divided or all open
-
backcountry, Going to put 1/2 x 1/2 wire on the floor and all around the sides except about 10 foot of it i'm going to enclose just like my other pen. Other than that it will be all open. ty2 Jim
-
ok guessing there is 2 5 foot rolls to make it 10 feet is that ok to walk on? how far apart is the spacing on the bottom support and what is the inside height
thanks tim
-
I would make sure you were walking on the center joist. If the wire did support you, it would no longer be a flat floor. May have a bit of a dip in it... It would with me anyway :?:
-
this might seam like a dumd ? but how do you keep your birds do you just put them all together or how do you keep them sorted
-
Backcountry The pen I just built is not tall enought to walk in it is only about 5 foot tall after I put the metal roof on it. now this pen is about 10 foot tall in the center and has a deck board all the way down the center with 2x6 floor joist I would never step directly on the wire with out a floor joist under it. ty2 Jim (I keep pretty much the same age groups together)

I wouldn't stand on the wire either. It might hold you today, but tomorrow may be a different story. sk3
The wire will stretch no matter what it is fastened too, regardless of the span.

Been trying to work on the new pen but to much r1 and getting colder each day. hopefully will get a decent day or two to work on them. ty2 Jim

Hey Buddy, lookin' good! I just built a new pen myself. I have Coturnix left from the fall that I was going to use for hunting, then we got a foot of snow. Darn that global warming, where is Al Gore? t1 Ghost.
-
jim, interested in the pen on the far left...could you send me the specifics: measurements, how you attached pvc to the posts.
-
Hi GP, and s016! There are a couple ways to connect the PVC pipe to the boards; You can pre-drill and screw, or use a paddle bit 7/8inch for 3/4inch pipe and then either set it in or glue it. Ghost.

Well it's been a while I'll see if I can get the finished pictures of this pen I was working on and a few I'll take a few pictures when the rain quits Thank ya Jim
-
forgot I already have pics
-
Is this a colony breeder? If so how do you get your eggs.. If it is a fight pen.. How are you getting the wild birds out?
Jim I wanted to thank you for all the pictures you take of your pens and the open ended discussions on them. They have served as a huge inspiration to me..
Thanks

Slayton farms, This is more of a flight pen than anything really it an over flow pen for when my flight pens are full. I've built catch cages on the end of this big pen and when ever I need to get birds out of the pen I open a small door and walk them in the catch cage and then shut the door.the catch cage is 4 foot long 2 foot wide and a foot tall with a door on the top of it so I can reach in and pick them out by hand. ty2 Jim
