Title: Coturnix Quail
Post by: tweezy50 on March 09, 2009, 10:44:21 PM
Just incase anyone needs to know........I called the Nebraska DNR today and , after spending some time looking up the issue, they told me that coturnix quail raising and selling in Nebraska doesnot require a license as that quail is not related to the bobwhite.  Bobwhites would require the license but not the cotunix.

Hope this will help someone.

Tweezy50,       I just received my GameBird Breeder License from Texas Parks & Wildlife and as you stated about Nebraska holds true for Texas.  You are not required to hold a license for Coturnix.

doesn't DNR only require licenses for NATIVE species of animals?  Coturnix are not native to anywhere in the US that I have found, but the Bobwhite are.....

Could be.

they just told me they are concerned  about the bobwhite and anything RELATED to the bobwhite.

The Coturnix don't quailify under that thinking.
