habitat or preditors?

here in central kansas i think we have pletty of habitat.  its the preditors that hurts the bird poplation here.  coons, skunks,bobcats, etc.  back in the 70,s and the 80,s when the fur market  was  good it gave young people a income  something to do with there time. we had pletty of birds then.
