How exciting!-  I love to hear the progress- we are new to this. If you have time, could you explain your comment about the humidity, and that you must have done something right- on the other post and how do you know what the humidity is in that kind of incubator?
TIA

well I left 69 eggs in the bator. I know there is movement in at least 10 more. I was hoping for an overall of 50% or better so that would do it. I also have 100 button eggs coming this week.

I wanted to reply more earlier but has some hatching. I used a cheap holmes hygrometer I got at wallmart on clearance for .75 cents. I used an outdoor thermometer from the grocery store which I later scrapped when I picked up an older GQF thermometer that is mounted on metal still new in box. I was VERY picky about my eggs. I turned them every 6 hours religiously (5,11,5,11) by hand. I checked temp any time I noticed an increase or decrease in room temperature and adjusted accordingly. I also want to add that this is my first ever hatch, I have never attempted incubating egg ever before. I think that sticking to a schedule and keeping humidity regulated is the best advice anyone could give you. I did alot of research and asked alot of questions, it all paid off today when I saw that first egg pipping. Thank you to everyone who helped me learn everything in such a short time. Thank you Larry for having this great place, without it I would never have brought such a joy to my family.

before going to bed last night there were 33 chicks in the brooder and on in the bator that we had to help out of its shell. It was the only weak chick in the batch. When I woke up at 5am to turn eggs in another bator the weak chick was doing better so we put it in the brooder. When I woke up for the day I checked the bator and there were 5 more chicks in there, bringing the total up to 39 hatches and 56.5% hatch rate thus far. There are 2 more pipping right now and some more eggs moving. How long should I leave the eggs in the bator? I have pheasant eggs in there due to hatch wednesday and I have to put 40 chicken eggs in there between wednesday and thursday as well.

I have had hatches go for 6 days.  I have also hatched quail with ducks and pheasant.  The only problem has been a confused duck that thinks its a quail.  Tried to put him in with ducks and he squacks until we put him back with the quail.  Oh well!
