Hello
We're new to the forum and hope that we are posting in the right place.  We have raised poultry for awhile but are wanting to expand.  We are looking at raising quail but are wanting to have an out for the birds if we can't place all of them.  How do we find brokers for the quail?  Are there any brokers who use the forum or are there any members who use specific brokers?  We are located in Eastern South Dakota.
Thanks for all the help.

s016  No help here.....But I would think if there were such a person that his going to make the money and not you. The profit margin is already real low with gamebirds.

s016  Ditto on what Slidr said.  I find I have very good luck by just advertising on my own.  "Don't need no Stinkin middle-man"   j1

Hello
Thanks for the replies so far.  I'm sure there are some that will keep there sources from others but hoping for some help.  We do plan on trying to sell everything ourself but still would like a possible out if things are slow on our end.  Do you advertise locally, nationally, etc.  Some have said to advertise in magazines.  What works the best for you.  Not sure how many people want to buy locally here in South Dakota.  Do you feel it is best to start with more common bobwhites or more exotic such as gambel.
Thanks

I have coturnix and have no problem getting rid of all my supply.  I advertise locally.  I find it's just a matter of letting people know you have what they want.  Word of mouth can do wonders!

Dan,

s016 to the forums at That Quail Place.

You have to realize to find any bird brokers, first you would have to be fully licensed, and your birds would come under the scruitny of N.P.I.P. and Avian Influenza testing. You would have to supply documentation for the bird transportation.

Stromberg's chickens is a bird broker in that sence. Other bird brokers you would have to find in the yellow pages.

My suggestion to you would be to canvas you area for shooting preserves, or talk to your state DNR and see if they have a stocking program, and if they do, ask them how you can apply, or bid on suppling birds during the hunting season.

You can always place an ad in the for sale section in your local new papers, or trader/bulletin board/pennysaver, to sell to individuals during the hunting season,  or to farmers looking to propagate their lands.

Dan,

I have been on this board since the begininning, trust me their are no bird brokers here. We, meaning the forum members, are either gamebird breeders catering to shooting preserves, individuals, or the general hunting public, or to the farmers looking to propagate, or we are just into it as a hobby.

Myself, I am a licensed gamebird breeder in WV, catering to shooting preserves, individuals, or the general hunting public, and to the farmers looking to propagate. Just as my signature line states.

Best of luck to you!

Do you do much internet sells on adults and ship them?  I just don't think there is a big market in South Dakota.  We can sit on our back porch and shoot as many pheasants and partridge that we want. LOL!!!
