I too bought bob eggs from Chris and went to pick up.  Even though I picked them up he still packed them like he was shipping them in mail.  Also gave me excellent advice and guidance.

I enjoyed the article you did in the last Game Bird Gazette. Nice pictures. I can see why you produce good quality birds. You seem to really know what you are doing.

Out of my 120 bobwhite eggs from Chris so far candled and thrown away about 8 eggs over the first 19 days of incubating.  Starting last night and the rest of today had 79 hatch with more comming.  I'd say these eggs are very fertile.  Thank you Chris.

That's better than I get from my own eggs.

Way to go

I'm concerned about the 6 that you say are bobwhite chicks. I had one other person who stated they got 1 bobwhite out of 200 that hatched. The only thing I can think of is the person I got my red eggs from last year mixed them with bobs? There is no way my bob and red eggs can get mixed up, as they are in completely different areas, and I gather and mark the eggs seperatly. I apologize for the inconvenience, and if this is a problem for you, I will make it right. I'm also not going to be buying anymore eggs from that provider again. I'll have a new source of red eggs for next year....

just wanted to clear something up for you on the Tennessee Reds - with any bobwhite color mutation may it be Tennessee Reds, white bobs or what not you will still have the gene that pops up and has the color of a regular bob. I didn't pay attention in school enough to know everything about the dominant and recessive genes but that is about right you said you had 6 hatch out normal seems like i normally have no more than 5% if that. Remember this though - those birds still carry the red gene so you could call it a split to red ( if you are a duck person (split to white ya know with mandarins and such )
Congratulations on your hatch !!
