Back in the old days when I used incubators, I wouldn't start to worry till about 4 days past due.

Now I do not worry at all......because all incubation is now done by the birds

Kick 'Em Up - Knock 'Em Down

« Reply #166 on: April 30, 2013, 07:59:48 AM »

Had about 250 chicks last night and the late bloomers are still popping so all in all, a decent hatch.  I've had better, I haven't had worse, but you got to be optimistic  dk2

Anyways, seperating the chicks the way we have into 100 chick rings has really helped.  We haven't lost any since they hatched and in the past we would have lost 100 by now.  I'm wondering if I should just leave the rings up and as the birds get big enough to jump the rings, that is when they get to roam the brooder, instead of taking the rings out after a week or so.

Me too !
Normally in bed by now.
Been getting up a bit earlier each day (02:30 this morning).
So, decided to sit on the deck & watch the sun set, listen to the frogs sing (first time this year).
Been a long winter....
