Title: Do Pheasant's roost on the ground or in a tree??
Post by: Fourche River Quail on May 11, 2004, 11:40:35 AM
Just hatched some pheasants (my first ones) and I dont know If they roost on the ground or in the trees?? If they roost in the trees, do I need to put a perch in the brooder so they  can learn to fly up on it?  The older ones are tryin to fly a little.

Pheasants roost. If you are in an area that gets below freezing you should provide a pole type roost, about 6 inch in diameter. This prevents toes from hanging down & freezing them. Also the feathers will cover their toes.
