With the recent posts about spiderweb veins and early Chukar eggs, I was reminded of my "need" for a good high intensity candler.

Summer before last, I had a temperature problem (107F) and was instructed to crack open a few to see what was happening.  That raised a few eyebrows, here, but my supplier knew I didn't have a candler that would show what was happening, clearly.  Breaking a few out of 3000 isn't a big deal, but being able to avoid it would be nice.

Many years ago, my uncle had a candler that showed late term Rhode Island Red embryos pretty well.

If anyone has a candler that works really well on the darker Chukar, Pheasant, or even brown chicken eggs, I'd like to know the brand and model number.  Please only reply from experience, not based on advertising claims.

s020 wildergamebirds, I have been looking for one now 8 years. There are quite a few expensive ones on the market, but I am not going to be the first chump on the block to be taken for a ride if it doesn't live up to what is expected. So for now, I'll just break a few here and there, or ride out the full hatch.

If you find one, by all means, please post your experience with it along with the MFG and price, and actual pictures of you using it.

j2 Now it works! wildergamebirds My dad made one for my mom years ago. It was an 8"X 8" card board box with a 100watt light fixture mounted in side and a hole slightly smaller than the egg cut in the box. The box was sealed after the fixture was installed. As i recall it worked on brown eggs just fine. Note:egg should not be left on too long because of the heat! Also candler should be left on unattended or you could have a problem!
