Title: Vitamins in water?
Post by: Man Cave on March 12, 2009, 09:30:55 PM
What does everyone recommend to put in new hatchlings water. Is there something that can be used for chicks as well as adults. Can you give me names and Where to buy? I see there are lots of medicines on the market but i am just a hobby grower and will only carry around 50 birds.  iI do want all of them to be healthy and try and prevent disease.

Thanks in advance, Tommy c29

The starting place for good healthy eggs, is with the breeder stock. Good healthy diet with a variety of healthy foods. This will help provide all the amino acids and trace elements. (the more birds you have, the harder this is to accomplish)
Water soluble vitamins each month will also help. My adult birds get this year round.
Over the winter I'll mix fresh each day for 3-7 days, twice a month.

The water soluble vitamin mix you should find at any feed store will do them nothing but good in their first week.
The mix I have up here is mixed 1/4 tsp/liter.
After the first week you can give this to them as many times a month as you want.

To help prevent disease you must keep everything clean.
