Title: Quail Feet
Post by: echo1105 on September 10, 2009, 07:58:09 PM
Hi All-
I'm new to quail board and have some questions. I recently purchased 2 orange quail from an auction. Have no idea what they are, but when I got them home I noticed the female was having problems walking. I let them rest for a day so I didn't stress them out anymore than they were already. I picked the poor female up and saw she had 2 broken toes one on each foot. We are talking bone sticking out broken. I cleaned her up, put antibiotic ointment on feet and gave her an injection of Baytril. Did this for 5 days. Feet looked pretty good. She seemed to be improving. Caught her today again and the feet are swollen and a new toe is swollen also. What do I do? Do I take her to my vet or is there something else I should be doing? She is in a pen with her mate and 2 Lady Amherst pheasants. No one is picking on her and she is eating and drinking. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Sounds like a spreading infection.
I'd cull her and get another.
